The application of pulse separation method in the processing of coarse grains
2024-03-06 17:34:14

Multigrain processing, including the processing of grains and pulses, is an ancient and important one of all food technologies and forms an important part of the food production chain. Grain legumes are widely grown around the world and have been globally appreciated and recognized for their dietary and economic importance. Today, the multigrain processing industry is as diverse as its product range. Almost every meal contains some form of grain, and the range of non-food applications is increasing daily, all of which present significant processing challenges for manufacturers of multigrain processing equipment.

The pulse undergoes several primary and auxiliary processes before being consumed, such as hulling, bulking, grinding and splitting. The main treatment methods vary from country to country. Unlike cereals, the processing of pulses also varies with the variety. The home-scale technique for husking on grain is to scatter the grain in the sun for several hours, or mix it with a small amount of water and mash it with a pestle and mortar. The hull is then wind-selected to produce clean cotyledon.

With the advent of commercial-scale hulling and pulse separation, this design was used as a template for loss-type rolling mills. In principle, the methods employed in homes, rural industries, or commercial plants are often similar, but differ in the use of technology to increase production, operational efficiency, and large-scale applications.
